Very beautiful, quiet, basic lodges during the Kanchenjunga trek / Trekking guide
Very beautiful trek, especially Pang Pema (views of Kanchenjunga from the North). Pleasantly quieter than the most touristy treks. Basic lodges, not much else than dal bhat to eat, quite pleasant, only room for a limited number of people. 9000 to 10000 meters total uphill for the circuit.
Now the negative side. Restricted area, so you’re obliged to take a guide from an agency (there is only one serious checkpost, at Ghunsa). High altitude lodges are not cheap (but it’s normal here because of the low numbers of customers). Only 4 flights a week to Suketar (you can come by road from Bhadrapur airport or from Kathmandu, 10 to 14 hours from Bhadrapur, Ilam is a very nice stopover or rest place after the trek, Taplejung is unpleasant)
