Nar Phu Valley Trek – 7 Days | Remote Himalayan Adventure in Nepal

The Nar Phu Valley Trek – 7 Days is one of Nepal’s most extraordinary trekking adventures, taking you deep into the hidden valleys of Nar and Phu, two ancient Tibetan-influenced villages that remained closed to foreign visitors until 2003. Located in the remote northern part of the Annapurna region, this restricted area offers an authentic Himalayan experience far from the busy trekking routes.

This short yet rewarding trek is perfect for adventurous travelers seeking untouched landscapes, dramatic mountain scenery, rich Tibetan Buddhist culture, and a true wilderness experience. The route leaves the classic Annapurna Circuit at Koto and follows a less-travelled trail through narrow gorges, alpine forests, glacial rivers, colourful prayer flags, centuries-old monasteries, and spectacular high mountain valleys before crossing the breath-taking Kang La Pass (5,320m).

Throughout the journey, you will enjoy magnificent views of Annapurna II (7,937m), Himlung Himal (7,126m), Gangapurna (7,455m), Tilicho Peak (7,134m), Chulu East, Pisang Peak, and many other snow-covered Himalayan giants.

Every year, Nepal Planet Treks proudly organizes this incredible adventure for more than 50 international trekkers, guided by experienced local professionals who know the region inside and out. Whether you are looking for cultural immersion, breathtaking landscapes, or a unique trekking experience away from the crowds, the Nar Phu Valley Trek is an unforgettable journey into one of Nepal’s best-kept secrets.

Full Description
The Nar Phu Valley Trek is one of Nepal’s finest hidden trekking adventures, offering an exceptional blend of untouched wilderness, ancient Himalayan culture, and breathtaking mountain scenery.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Koto via Besisahar, following the famous Annapurna Circuit route. From Koto, the trail leaves the main trekking route and enters the restricted Nar Phu Valley, where very few trekkers venture each year.

As you hike deeper into the valley, the landscape transforms dramatically. Dense pine forests gradually give way to towering cliffs, deep canyons, alpine meadows, and rugged high-altitude terrain. Crystal-clear rivers flow through narrow gorges, while ancient mani walls, chortens, and colorful prayer flags reflect the region’s rich Tibetan Buddhist heritage.

The isolated villages of Phu and Nar have preserved their traditional lifestyle for centuries. Here, local people continue to practice ancient customs, herd yaks, cultivate barley, and live in beautifully built stone houses beneath towering Himalayan peaks.

One of the greatest highlights of the trek is crossing the magnificent Kang La Pass (5,320m), where trekkers are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the Annapurna Massif, Gangapurna, Annapurna II, Tilicho Peak, Chulu Peaks, and the beautiful Manang Valley below.

Unlike many popular trekking routes in Nepal, the Nar Phu Valley Trek offers a peaceful and authentic experience where visitors can enjoy nature without crowds. The combination of dramatic landscapes, unique Tibetan culture, high mountain passes, and warm local hospitality makes this trek one of Nepal’s most rewarding hidden adventures.
